As models rip the runway and established fashion designers show off their Spring-Summer 2013 collections at Paris Fashion Week, one name and one collection will be missing--Kanye West.

Kanye West's rep recently announced that the rapper won't be returning to Paris Fashion Week
After fashion critics( not us) gave his first two outings lukewarm reviews, his people have announced that he will not be showing his collection at Paris Fashion Week this season.

But it is very hard to jump right into couture, high fashion.

Perhaps he should have started a more commercial line and the eased up to high fashion. In their article, "Why The High Fashion World Will Never Take Kanye West Seriously," Business Insider points out how other celebrities with high fashion lines --The Olsen twins and Katie Holmes-- worked their way up to high fashion by starting with more commercial lines.

But Kanye used his money and celebrity status to throw himself right into the mix. This was probably a mistake...

After his last showing, the Telegraph said: "Kanye West's fashion debut was like being subjected to an hour long MRI scan — but not as much fun."

And the American press was no kinder. The New York Times said... "Mr. West’s approach to making a dress was like a cook wrapping leftover turkey."

In recent months, West appears to have turned his attention to styling new flame Kim Kardashian (a recent episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” showed him throwing out “ghetto” items from her closet). Officials at Karla Otto, which represents the Kanye West line, confirmed he would not be showing, but declined to say whether the line has been discontinued.

Maybe he'll reemerge in a few years after he lets the negative press from his earlier attempt die down.

  1. I think Kanye looks stunning, handsome and in good taste. Paris could be wrong. He should hang in there. I haven't seen the line, but his taste is usually on target, in my opinion. So, the critics have been wrong before; he shouldn't dump his line, but let his customers be the critic. Bring it on Mr. West!
