Artist Spotlight: Vilcali

Vallejo, California native Vilcali is a talented rapper and artist.  Although he's still emerging on the scene, his unique lyrical flow and original rhymes will make it easier for him carve out a name for himself in hip hop's saturated market.

We got a sneak preview of his soon to be released track, "Meditate." The song opens with a beautifully melodic piano loop that just keeps building to include soulful vocals, rap verses and brass instrumentation. He takes his listeners on a journey through his mind as he sickly spits what he ponders or "meditates" on what it means to really have peace. Vilcali's strength as a rapper and lyricist is evident after just 30 seconds into the song.

"Why do I feel paranoia when I talk to police
Why do I carry this 40 while I slide through the streets
I just wanna have peace
I just wanna have peace."

He also has an excellent ability to artistically express his emotions  through his music. “Using your words to conjure up emotions and being an MC is everything to me,” he emphasizes.

With such ease, Vilcali blends a variety of genres and influences to create his own signature style on every track he creates.
