ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Multifaceted Music Artist, Juśtin

Juśtin is a multifaceted artist intent on showcasing his unique sound and style. Born Justin Reid in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Conyers, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida, he has a rich soul and joy when he uses his gifts. He says, "every artist has something that makes them stand out. Mine is that I can perform and record songs in multiple genres."  And he also has his hands on more than just a mic. He sings, raps, play piano and conduct as well.

He recently released a new album entitled "Music IS Color". The sound is a mix hip hop styles that includes an homage to Outkast on The Way You Move, references to his hometown on the track Zone 6,  and a smoother sounding flow on SouthSide. The 10 song album showcases Juśtin's versatility and musicality. You should give it a listen: https://open.spotify.com/album/1Nn0ExkFr9IXhlj7gP2Ou3

How did you get into music?
My dad was a DJ in Atlanta so I was always around music. And when I sung for my 1st grade class I discovered that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

What artists most influences your sound and style?
I don’t have any artist that influences my style honestly. I try to be as unique in my sound as possible.

Singing, rapping, conducting.. you're pretty multifaceted. Tell me about your work ethic, and how do you stay focused?
I believe when it comes to music I have the best work ethic in the world. I denied a potential deal from Motown because I felt like I could complete with the best of the mainstream artist without the aid of a major label. Beyoncé, Drake even the passed Michael Jackson. I’ve always felt like I can complete with the best of them.

Dream collab?
I have no dream collab. But if J.Cole hit my line right now and wanted to hop on a track I definitely wouldn’t deny him.

I know we're in the middle of a pandemic, but I still have to ask... Any interesting performances coming up?
Surprisingly I haven’t had a performance since I was 15! I suffer from Allergic Fungal Sinusitis which makes it really hard to perform to the best of my ability. But I do have my third (and hopefully last) surgery coming up so we’ll see!
